Screenshot Ho!

So anyhow, it’s been a long depressing search for work. I’m qualified to do a great many things, but it seems like there are not a great many things available in the workplace right now. No doubt something will come through, but it’s a damn frustrating thing waiting for something to bite on my resume.

In the meantime, I’m catching up on my reading. I can now highly recommend a few titles:

  • Constantine’s Sword by James Carroll. A really deep read about the Catholic Church’s historical prejudice and persecution of the Jews, and very insightful. It certainly turned me introspective.
  • Psychohistorical Crisis by Donald Kingsbury. An extension of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series, which takes a “what-if” outlook on the universe Asimov created. A great book if you liked the Asimov series.

Hmm. I think that’s all I have for now. Here’s a quick link you might find amusing in the meantime.

  • NationStates - a socio-political simulator that allows you to run your own banana republic for fun and profit. Mostly fun. Here’s my country if you’re curious: The Sultanate of Assjackistan. An old-fashioned crazy-as-a-goat desert oasis.

And as promised in the title, here’s the latest screenshot from my Linux machine. Cheers!

Ah, this may allow you to better understand my “skeptical about UNIX” comment last night.

I (and this is highly embarrassing) had confused UNIX, and Linux. Not one of my proudest moments, since I consider myself very tech savvy. It seems, though, that my technological prowess generally extends only to the Windows based world…

Anyway, love the screenshot. Maybe someday I’ll take my friend?s advice, and try Linux on one of my machines.
