Sethra Lavode: A Review

Sethra Lavode is the third and final part of The Viscount of Adrilankha by Steven K. Z. Brust. This is rather good modern fantasy, really. The world it takes place in has a unique flavor and culture which feels alien and familiar all at once, and the characters (even if they are not already as familiar as old friends from previous volumes) are at once understandable in some cases, and a mystery to the end in others.

The book contains a share of sadness, though. Yet all we are able to do is reflect, consider, and then move on - the next project may well give us a glimpse of friends now parted, and introduce us to new friends as well. The book went very quickly and was well-paced, and I was able to finish it in something under 4 hours. The only complaint I have is that I wish there could have been more of it.

If you happen to enjoy fantasy with the taste of historical writing, this has my highest recommendation.
