I decided to try installing the Xubuntu 6.06 Beta 1, since my poor laptop is much older and could use a slimmed-down distribution.
This was the very first time an Ubuntu-based distribution failed to detect and configure my wireless card. Not a good sign.

Actually, it’s a Netgear MA401, which has always used prism_cs, I think.

I have the MA401 on my old laptop. The prism driver for that card was relatively recent. I had a bitch of a time installing the BSD non-prism driver on it back in ‘02.
