Yes, this about sums up where I’m at as a person right now. Yes, it does that nicely.
So I’m stuck down in Washington D.C. doing work for a conference my company does, and it’s basically 14-hour days of running around doing everything for everyone and none of it relating to what I actually do for a living.
Food is good, but whatever.
Nothing much else happening (that I’m able to be aware of) and I’ll be back in New York on Saturday night. Have fun, kids.
Tatsuya : So which is the bigger crime in NYC: Losing a sexual harassment lawsuit or not making the playoffs?
Matt : Oh, the playoffs.
Tatsuya: rol
Matt : Shit, we figure everyone is a scumbag, you may as well be a successful scumbag.

This album is amazing. I’ve always been a fan of Old Blind Dogs, and this new album is a newer sound for them, one of the band members having left the group after the last album, Gab O’ Mey. The sound is smoother and simpler, and their treatment of previous songs done by earlier versions of the band really illustrate how well the new quartet is working together. My two favorite tracks on here are old and new; Bonnie Earl is a new version of The Bonnie Earl o’ Moray from their 1997 album Legacy, and Cairn o’ Mount is new for the band. Exceedingly well done album, and it gets a 10/10 from me.
Wow, that was refreshing - Yankees managed a three-game sweep of the Red Sox, and did so against the heart of their pitching order: Matsuzaka, Beckett, and Schilling. Probably the most impressive thing is that Boston was held to 6 total runs in the course of the series. All props to Yankee pitching, and I continue to fear Joba Chamberlain.
I was just noticing something the other night, that certain things have an inherent amount of cool. Classic baseball caps are pretty cool. The Yankees cap is the single most recognized piece of sports paraphernalia in the world. An old Brooklyn Dodgers cap reeks of awesomeness. The classic Olde English “D” on a Detroit Tigers cap carries a smoothness that cannot be denied.
In some cases, the cap can add seemingly supernatural levels of coolness.
So I managed to find a new pair of sandals for the summer. In the past, the problem has been finding anything wide enough for my foot, since I wear something between a 13-15 EEEE.
Enter the Dunham 415 - I have never worn a more comfortable sandal. The backstrap is removable to turn them into slip-ons, and they work in about every conceivable way.

I’ve surely mentioned our interesting vending machine at work. The one where you can play a little game after a purchase and get a chance to win a prize? If not, now I have. Today I managed to luck out and win $5 from the arbitrary little soda-spitter. I punch in my reward code, and it begins spitting out quarters.
One of which, on the face, has a rather well-done color portrait of Derek Lowe, along with a baseball backdrop and his team name and number.
Derek Lowe? Come on, people. Seriously? Derek Lowe.
Here’s an awesome video by a band from Belarus. I cannot even BEGIN to express just how damned awesome this thing is. I want you to watch it. Several times. Concentrate on the imagery. It’s like… OK.
Imagine you’re locked in a prison cell. And you’re reading books on geopolitics. And every so often at random intervals some dude with an assault rifle runs in and smashes you in the head with the butt of the rifle. And this continues for a few days. And then you get to watch a Peter Gabriel video.
I think that about sums it up.
